Welcome

Welcome to the Book Club of California, a non-profit, membership-based organization founded in 1912. The club supports book making, fine printing, design, typography, illustration, literature, and scholarship through a dynamic series of publications, public programs, and exhibitions related to the history and literature of California and the West.

The Book Club of California is offering in-person and online programs and activities. Hybrid events with in-person attendance and a streaming element are also held.

We also offer the following initiatives to better involve you with our work and keep all of us connected to one another.

Virtual Community Meetings
Virtual Community Meetings, taking place in online meeting rooms via Zoom, enable members to make new connections and strengthen existing bonds when getting to our club rooms isn’t possible. Expect thoughtful conversations about all things bookish, while sharing personal stories and the latest book-related news. Invitations to these events are emailed to members.

Monthly Spotlights on Book Club Publications
A prospectus and a short description posted on our website can fall short in terms of highlighting the incredible artistry and scholarly content in a finely made Book Club publication. This email series includes photographs, illustrations, text excerpts, and details about books that you may have missed. Special pricing for each publication will be listed.

Live Online Presentations, Talks, and Lectures
These webinar-style presentations resemble our Monday evening in-person events and give us all the opportunity to be educated and entertained by the dynamic speakers you have come to expect at the Book Club.

Please join the Book Club of California for these virtual events and online activities.

Many of our staff will be working remotely so please contact them by email or phone. Staff contact information can be found on our website.
